Artist Bio
Bryce Vos is a self taught artist living and working in Southern California. After serving in the Marines and completing two combat tours, Bryce began using art as a creative tool to process his experiences and transition back to civilian life. He took a number of sculpting and painting classes while at his local community college before transferring to UC Berkeley where he earned a Bachelors in Philosophy. While he spent many years working in the private sector and even got his Masters in Social Entrepreneurship from USC, Bryce continued to pursue art in his spare time, taking evening art classes and developing his own unique mixed media style. Eventually, this garnered enough attention for him to start selling his works to local collectors through social media and for the last two years he has been making and selling his art full time
Bryce describes his art as being rooted in spontaneity, emotion and physical contrast. His work is a reflection of his desire to highlight the juxtaposition that exists between the real and the abstract. He draws a lot of his inspiration from patterns that occur in the natural world, human emotion and the cultural zeitgeist of his age. All of these elements drive his fluid and unplanned works. Feelings and ideas mesh, allowing Bryce to create with his unique form of textured paintings. The materials he uses consist of acrylic paints, foams, and non-traditional objects. His art utilizes overwhelming color, form, and lighting in an attempt to invoke his own emotions in the viewer. Most of his work is a fusion of sculpting and painting that flirts with elements of automatism, expressionism and surrealism.
